Should the mole look suspicious, we will carry out a biopsy and a specimen will be sent for testing. We also offer subsequent bi-annual or annual skin screening appointments for your ongoing peace of mind.
Our Mole Removal Procedure
Mole removal at UKSKIN is quick, easy and pain-free. The procedure usually takes under an hour to complete and is performed under local anaesthetic, meaning there is very little recovery time. Many of our patients make use of our walk-in-walk-out procedure, which allows for mole consultation and removal on the same day.
We perform three types of mole removal, including the Mole Curettage, Mole Shave and Full Mole Excision:
- Mole Curettage: The surgeon will scrape the mole off with a curette - a small spoon-like device with sharp edges.
- Mole Shave: The surgeon will shave the mole off with a sharp razor, while also making use of an electrode to ensure minimal scarring.
- Full Mole Excision: The mole - along with a small margin of skin - will be removed using surgical tools.
The method of removal will be decided during your consultation, with the required procedure being explained to you in detail beforehand.
