What is a Cherry Angioma?

Cherry Angiomas or “Campbell de Morgan” spot are benign acquired moles. The exact cause is unknown, however it had been linked with obesity, pregnancy, liver disease or it could run in the family. It’s distinctive red colour is caused by broken damaged blood vessels within them. They are completely harmless however will not disappear on their own. They can cause aesthetic problems and make the patient become self-aware about them.

There are different options to treat them however we prefer to remove them surgically in order to lower the risk of recurrence.

The procedure will be done under local anaesthetic and would last approximately 30 minutes. The wound will be closed with sutures and a dressing will be applied on. It will leave a tiny scar that usually fades away over time.
