Upper eyelid surgery
Lower eyelid surgery
Eyes are the first features we notice on someone’s face. With time, signs of ageing begin to appear first around the eyes. This is because the eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in our body. Over time, the skin stretches and can become saggy, resulting in droopy and puffy eyelids. This can give the impression of being tired, sad or angry. It can also cause visual disturbances.
Eyelid surgery, also known as Blepharoplasty, is a procedure that removes this skin excess and parts of the fat pads which are responsible for the "puffy" effect (commonly known as bags). The procedure improves the appearance of your eyelids, achieving a more refreshed and youthful look. Removal of the obstructive handing skin can also lead to the improvement of the visual field.

Your treatment journey
The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic and takes 90 mins approximately including recovery. The skin will be incised and the excess trimmed off. The wound will be closed with sutures and a dressing will be applied on.
Following the procedure it is common to experience bruising, swelling and temporary numbness. As with all surgical procedures, there is a risk of discomfort, bleeding, infection, wound healing problems and scarring.
Once the procedure is done, you can go home on the same day, however you will need to be accompanied by a friend or member of your family. You will be given painkillers and sometimes a five days antibiotics cover to take home. You will be up and mobile on day one post-op, however you will need to avoid any heavy lifting, exercise, swimming, driving and travel for one week. This gives plenty of time for the swelling to go down. However, residual swelling can take up to ten weeks to settle down completely.
We will see you on day 3 post-op to change the dressings and assess the wounds, then see you again on day 6 to remove the sutures and finally the surgeon will see you two months later for a final check-up.
The visible improvement of the eyelid surgery appears usually just few weeks after surgery, scars would fade away and the result shall be long-lasting.
You will be reviewed and closely looked after until the wounds are completely healed. If you experience any problems or have any queries following your surgery, we are here to help. Please use our Whatsapp number provided.
