Facial Skin Excess Removal
(also known as Mini Facelift)
Facial Skin Excess Removal
With time, the face loses it’s youthful appearance. The skin loses volume and elasticity, becomes saggy, fold lines deepen, jowls droop, lips become thin and the nose and earlobes lengthen. This is secondary to gravity, ageing, sun damage, weight loss, smoking, alcohol, stress and genetics.
The UKSKIN Face Lift procedure can help to wind the clock back by removing the saggy skin, tightens the skin around your face, jawline and neck, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance. There are various types of facelifts such as the fillers facelift, the one stitch facelift, the full facelift and the mini facelift.
The Surgeon will recommend the best one for you depending on your age and the extent of any facial sagging. A facelift can also be combined with other procedures such as neck lift, brow lift, eyelid surgery, facial liposuction and fat transfer, resulting in a fully rejuvenated face.

Your treatment journey
You will initially have a consultation with our UKSKIN Surgeon who will discuss with you;
- The best option to suit your face and neck,
- How to prepare for the procedure,
- How the procedure is performed,
- What are the potential complications
- The aftercare.
In the 2 weeks prior to your procedure, we recommend you to avoid smoking. Blood thinners and any anti-inflammatory drugs should also be discontinued at least one week before your procedure. Any Diabetes or Hypertension should also be stabilised prior to the procedure. All these preventative measures would help in reducing the risk of post-op bleeding/haematoma and infection.
At UKSKIN, the commonly performed mini face lift procedure takes between 1 -3 hours and is done under Local Anaesthetic, therefore you can eat and drink before the procedure.
Incisions are made behind and in front of the ears in order to make scars the least visible, skin and soft tissues of the face are then lifted up, the fascia covering the muscles can be tightened, the skin is re-draped and the excess is trimmed off, stitches are then used to fix the lifted tissue in its new position and the wounds are closed with sutures.
Following the procedure it is common to experience some bruising, swelling and temporary numbness. As with all surgical procedures, there is a small risk of bleeding, infection, wound healing problems and scarring.
Once the procedure done, you can go home on the same day. However we shall keep you in the recovery room for a couple of hours just to make sure you are completely safe to return home accompanied by a friend or member of your family. You will be given painkillers and sometimes a five days antibiotics cover to take home. You will be up and mobile on day 1 post-op, however you will need to avoid any exercise, sexual activity, driving, work and travel for 2 weeks. You will be reviewed and looked after until the wounds are completely healed. If you experience any problems or have any queries following your surgery, we are here to help 24h.
We will see you on day 2 post-op to change the dressings and assess the wounds, then see you again on day 6 to remove the sutures and finally the surgeon will see you two months later for a final check-up.
The visible improvement of the mini facelift appears usually 2-3 months after surgery, scars would fade away and the result shall be long-lasting.
