Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
£375
Squamous Cell Carcinoma is the second commonest skin cancer in Caucasians. It is a malignant tumour of the keratinocytes that originates in the stratum spinosum. It usually manifests itself as a fast growing scaly fleshy coloured sometimes ulcerated nodule with raised rolled edges. It often occurs over the head and neck region. It can metastasise by reaching the lymph nodes first.
Removal of this skin cancer is done under local anaesthetic and the procedure would last approximately 30 minutes. The skin needs to be incised and the cancer cut out with some margins. The wound will be closed with sutures and a dressing will be applied on. It will leave a linear scar that usually fades away over the years. The removed lesion will be sent to Histology to be analysed under microscope. Patient will be reviewed to discuss the result. Communication between our Clinic and the NHS is upheld rigorously and we will keep your GP informed of the outcome.
