- Dermabrasion is a surgical method that removes the outer layers of the skin that contains the ink particles, thereby removing the tattoo.
- This is completed under local anaesthetic and can take up to two hours.
- The wound is left to heal by itself, leaving a pink patch that tends to fade away over time.
- Surgical excision, the preferred method for smaller tattoos, involves cutting out the skin that contains the tattoo. It is also completed under local anaesthetic.
- The wound is closed with stitches and a dressing is applied. It usually leaves a linear scar that fades away over time.
- This is a walk-in-walk-out procedure, once the procedure is complete, you can go home on the same day
- You will be given a post operative care pack to take home with you after your procedure
- Stitches will need to be removed 7-10 days (if surgical excision is performed) after the procedure
