What is a Fibroma?

Fibromas are Benign Tumours or Growth of the skin made of a mix of cells called Dermal Fibroblasts and Histiocytes. They also contain blood vessels and it is said that they are caused by minor injury or insect bites. They are usually Pink or Brown little bumps. They can occur anywhere on the body, however they are more common on legs, arms and face.

Removal of these Fibromas is by Surgical Excision. The procedure will be done under local anaesthetic and would last approximately 20 minutes. The skin needs to be incised and the lesion cut out. The wound will be closed with sutures and a dressing will be applied on. It will leave a linear scar that usually fade away over the years.
